Wowowow. Just in time delivery. I had so much work in June and also been away for quite a few trips that i couldnt make it earlier, but finally managed to get some tunes together after what was - musically - one of the greatest weekends i ever had: Glastonbury Festival. I had never been there before and didn’t know what to expect and it didn’t disappoint but exceeded my expectations by far. Just go there and i think you will never have to visit another festival (my opinion) again. Anyway, the summer is here and i hope you enjoy some deep and dancy bits and pieces in the following mix. Looking forward to your feedback, take care and see you all soon (damn, already July tomorrow…pressure’s on me).

Nothing much to be said about The Nextmen apart from being an amazing DJ and producer duo. If you ever drop into a club where they are playing then don’t hesitate entering and start feeling the vibe of funk, soul, disco and most of all real hip hop paired with amazing turntable skills. This album reflects all that. Props!

it has just been a few days since my last mix but i thought i better get back to the old time lag. i already had stored a few new disco-ish tunes for a while that i wanted to use in a new mix, but wanted to keep the deep vibe to it as well. well it’s probably much easier than that. i just compiled what i thought would fit together and makes sense in the final arrangement - don’t let the tempo fool you though. the cover shot is actually from two days ago just around the corner of my house, where some pseudo-political-hooligans used another 1st of may to destroy stores, cars and cause riots with the police - obviously not in their area but in ours. a pretty useless bunch if you ask me. as the mix is intended to be a much happier subject, please enjoy, leave feedback, come back here next month. i hope everyone is well and the summer is finally about to begin.

as i am by far not as good as others on the internet in writing musical reviews i will from now on display links in case i find interesting ones. the new Caribou album that i want to recommend this month is a classic example of something laying somewhere in between deep house, disco and electronic pop. very warm sounds, vocals that remind oneself of kelley polar or the junior boys sometimes, but before i just copy please click on the cover.
thanks to eyjafjallajokull no hols this month for me and the pals. flights cancelled, people stuck in weird or very nice places with no chance to return in time. unfortunately mallorca has to wait a few more months. right now terribly busy at work but still some time left to collect one or the other good tune to put together a gentle deep house mix - following this years tradition. listen, download, enjoy, dance, chill or do whatever you want with it (apart from deleting)! thanks for keeping on listening and do not hesitate to leave some feedback here. see you all shortly for the may(hem) issue…..

very sad reason but nonetheless justified this months “album of the month” comes from one of the true hip hop legends. if you haven’t listened to it while he lived, do it now after he passed away. raw and reduced hip hop from one of the best dj-mc-combination ever to be seen on the music circuit. enjoy - RIP Guru!

can’t wait. only 3 more days to go until the traditional (since the 90’s) winter lads-only week starts again. though i’d have enough reason to stay here this holiday could not come at a better point. therefore the need for a new mix was more than just urgent - it was a duty! we continue to be deep (i knooooow, not deep enough for some people….but who cares?) and i really hope you enjoy this one because i do. i leave the usual download bladidbla for now as everybody should be able to either download or play the mix by now. see ya all in april - the bday edition is waiting!

some of you might think ‘what is he on about?’ but when i heard the new groove armada album for the first time it made me smile immediately and did that again and again (the 1.000.000 times i repeated it). i wonder whether they might be playing that album as a live band as it could sound even cooler when played with live instruments. try it out - interesting to hear your opinion.

after the worst possible personal january there is not much to say about this months new mix apart from music in general having been one great thing to stick to when you fall into a deep hole. the result is another blend of contemporary deep house tunes i have been buying and listening to lately. last weekend should also be mentioned at this point and a big thanks to ingo and some folks in kassel for a great night with even greater music and unbelievable atmosphere till the very (way to) early morning. rock on. enjoy the mix, folks - happy to get some feedback on the blog and seeing you all back in march (the traditional snowboarding month).

nothing special to say about this particular album - just that it is absolutely stunning and there is nothing i look much more forward to right now than their live gig at the end of feb. just give it a try and you will hopefully feel the same way about it.
