New April 2012 Mix!

well. after more than 5 years of publishing monthly mixes nearly without any breaks, i decided to stretch the frequency of new releases in 2012 a bit. from now i will concentrate on only 4 mixes per year. hopefully you don’t mind and keep on tuning here to check the mixes. after winter there is summer and we have already seen a bit of its sunny sides. hope the gems give you a little lift into the next few months. and yes, i also changed the design of the blog (thanks to my mate Dhru) and updated bloody wordpress. lots of new features – or at least to me they are new. cya!

this is one might sound unusual, but i have been a keith jarrett fan since i first listened to his legendary köln concert. his live appearances are rare and the output usually depends on the vibe, but apparently after the concert in rio he called his producer, said “i think we got something here” and he wasn’t wrong. another masterpiece by the us piano wizard!

for me there was doubt, though there were many very good releases last year. dixon’s edition of the “live at robert johnson” has yet again proven, why he is one of the best dj’s in the world. an epic journey from beginning to end and a must have!

it’s always easy to recommend a new album, because there are so many good ones out there nowadays (amongst billions of pretty shite ones). that is why i try to go way back in time these days to present a band to you, which probably not many of know about. jingo de lunch was – and still is – one of the best underground punk rock/hardcore bands of the late 80s and beginning of 90s. in my opinion only the first three albums (not counting that mini album from 1988 now) are the real deal. axe to grind is one of them. this is proper guitar music, which i can only recommend!
